YouTuber’s Making Money
Thanks to @brainopera for this tip.
The New York Times has an interesting post on YouTuber’s making money from their videos.
While most people are just happy to watch videos on YouTube, some have embraced the medium to carve out successful niches, earning six figure incomes from their endeavors. Take Michael Buckley; who quit his day job in September and now concentrates his efforts on his YouTube WhatTheBuckShow. Moving from a public access channel, Buckley’s show has had 100 million views on YouTube.
Like others, he has become a YouTube ‘partner’. A spokesmen said there are hundreds of YouTube partners making thousands of dollars a month. Buckley himself is making over $100,000 per year from his show.
Another YouTuber cashing in is Cory Williams, known as smpfilms on YouTube, has had one of his videos viewed more than 15 million times. Williams, who has 180,000 subscribers to his videos is earning between $17,000 to $20,000 per month.
What is particularly interesting in his case is the fact that he earns half of his income from YouTube advertisements, with the other half coming from sponsorship and product placements within his videos.
Product placements are traditionally a feature of movies and television shows; have you ever noticed Apple computers in movies and television shows?
Go and take a look at what these two are doing and see if you get inspired to create your own channel and be on your way to online fame and fortune.
Make Easy Online Money

Make Easy Online Money. That is a claim made by many online affiliate programs, but only delivered by some. Below is an honest review of one such program, what you have to do to make easy online money with it and whether it actually delivers on its claim.
Blogging to the Bank 3.0
As nearly everyone who uses the Internet is aware, blogging is huge, with over 200 million online. But how many of the people behind those blogs are trying to make money with them; and out of the ones that are blogging for money, how many are actually making anything beyond a few dollars?
While I can rattle off a few names of people using blogging to make money, the majority are not making what you would call massive amounts. Sure, some of them are doing better than average, but only a very few are approaching real wealth from it.
Rob Benwell, the person behind Blogging to the Bank 3.0 is one of the few exceptions. Rob has made over a million dollars using blogs. Rob first wrote about his technique in 2006 and, as the Internet moves very quickly, techniques need to change to keep up, hence the rewrite and new release of Blogging to the Bank.
For those who don’t know Rob’s story, here is a quick summation:
Back in 2005 he was struggling to make any profit online, had dropped out of college and was getting deep into debt. He was trying all the techniques the gurus tell you and wasn’t getting anywhere fast. All of that went in the bin and he started using his own techniques and started making more and more money using simple blogs. In early 2006 he shared this with the world and had a great ebook called blogging to the bank. Tons of people got rich from using these techniques. He then spoke at Online Marketing Legend Yanik Silver’s underground Seminar where he revealed even more of his underground strategies. Then July 2007 he released Blogging to the Bank 2.0 which showed users his new methods to creating online wealth using blogs. In total both versions have been read by over 50,000 people across the world.
Blogging to the Bank 3.0 is a completely revised version of the previous offerings, covering all the new techniques Rob uses to maintain his blogging riches. Blogging To The Bank 3.0 teaches you Robs new step by step blueprint to creating highly profitable long term niche blogs using the newest optimization techniques. There’s even a section on advanced Search Engine Optimization, which he makes easy to understand. You wont have to wade through pages and pages of detail and come out none the wiser. It really is explained well and in plain English.
So what is his secret?
Basically, the technique Rob applies is very similar to one I use myself. Rather than going for a single blog and slowly building credibility and a following over time, he uses a multiple blog approach, building blogs in several areas and leveraging them for money.
Once you know the strategies, the system is quite mechanical and involves:
- Build your blog.
- Produce content for the blog.
- Market your blog to build traffic.
- Monetize your blog with adsense, advertising and affiliate programs.
- Rinse and repeat.
That is essentially what Rob does, but in order to make it work, you need to know how to do each detail correctly and follow each step. Blogging to the Bank 3.0 explains each step and guides you exactly through what you need to do in order to start earning a huge income.
In truth, you can honestly start earning money very quickly by following these techniques and once you have built one site, which should only take a half hour at the most, you can move onto the next and so on.
I can actually vouch for these techniques. As I said, I do something very similar myself and wish I had this book to guide me when I got started. I had to stumble my way through like Rob did before I found this way of doing things.
The other great thing with this type of program is that once you have setup one site, you can bascially forget about it and move onto the next. Each one will bring in passive income, without you having to nurture them or anything else. Once built, it really is a case of set and forget. The more streams you have coming in, the more money you can make.
To give you an idea, say you have one blog that you slave over and count the 50 cents a day you make from google via adsense. How about having 100 blogs that you write on once that get an averaged earning of $5 a day, without having to do anything. And this is conservative. I bet you can see the potential now.
If you are serious about getting on your way to wealth and making easy money online, you really should get Blogging to the Bank 3.0.

How I Wont Make $10,000 In 37 Days In Social Media
I didn’t really want to give this guy any more publicity, as that pretty much plays into his hands, but I felt that the value of the warning outweighs the benefit to him in free publicity.
I first heard of Brian Campbell on John Chow’s blog. If you are not familiar with John Chow’s blog, he basically writes posts about products or services that generate affiliate income for him.
At the end of April, John had a post on a guy by the name of Brian Campbell who was going to demonstrate how to make $10,000 in 37 days on Facebook.
I read the post and immediately thought, ‘ok, here we go again, some guy is going to suck a bunch of people in to the trap and then hit them with the sales pitch’. As it turns out. I was not too far off.
To condense Brian’s strategy, essentially he searches for appropriate people on Facebook, i.e. people who have an interest in marketing, entrepreneurialism and any associated area with making money online. He then proceeds to add at least 500 of these people as friends and create a Facebook group with these friends as members.
He repeats this process, creating more groups and inviting more people to join them, while promoting his Website, product and seminar series to each group and continually updating his status to increase his profile in each ‘friends’ Facebook feed.
Once his friends list is large enough, he creates and mailing list (not in Facebook) and sends direct email marketing to the list.
Brian explains all of the details on how to achieve all of this in a series of MP3’s and videos. If you are not familiar with this type of marketing (it has been around for years in the form of all those get rich quick books), there is some useful information in Brian’s videos.
I briefly skimmed them, as the general premise and concepts were nothing new to me. I actually thought that if he had a slicker presentation, his scam strategy would be far more effective.
When you get to the end of Brian’s videos, you find out the secret to making money from Facebook; you need to have a product or service to sell; the more expensive the better.
You need to pick very popular niches, with minimal competition. Easier said then done, but don’t fear, here is where Brian makes his money. For an upfront fee of $47 and then a monthly fee between $27 - $297, depending on the package you have chosen, Brian will show you how to do this.
When Brian fist announced this ‘money making scheme’ he said he would show everyone how he did it for free and to some degree he has, but, in reality, he hasn’t. There is nothing illegal with what he is doing, it is just a typical example of taking advantage of people’s susceptibility to be taken in by the prospect of easy riches. Don’t buy into, you would be better off saving your money.
Oh yeah, just to make sure there is no ambiguity, that’s not me in the image…..
Have I Got A Deal For You

I held off long enough for the hype to die down, but have signed up to DealDotCom. If you are not familiar with DealDotCom, what it does is offer deals on software, PLR, membersip sites, scripts, info products, e-book and more.
What Is The Deal
Sorry about the pun. How it works, is that each day DealDotCom offers one product and only one product for sale at a reduced price. You can see today’s product in the sidebar here. The products they offer are ones I have either bought previously, such as the OIOPublisher WordPress Plugin or ones I have been thinking of buying, like today’s special on the Wp Auctions Plugin.
The other great thing about DealDotCom, is that you get a free product just for joining. Once you become a member, you can then refer others to the site and earn commissions. From their site:
Whenever you refer someone to DealDotCom via your handy-dandy affiliate link, you get paid 35% of DealDotCom’s profit for every item that they buy. If someone you referred to DealDotCom refers someone else, you get paid 15% of DealDotCom’s profit every time they buy something for the rest of your life. This is a big commitment, so we suggest you take it very seriously.
So joining gives you two benefits, cheaper products and affiliate commissions.
Can You Make Money From A New Blog?

A few common questions about blogging and more particularly, starting a new blog that keep popping up are:
- Can you make money from blogging?
- How much money can you make blogging?
- How do you make money blogging?
This post will deal primarily with the first and second questions; future articles will cover the last one in the list in more detail. As the article is quite long, I have broken it into two separate posts, with this being the first installment. The second will come later, so check back for it, or subscribe to the RSS feed.
Make Money With WidgetBucks
October 2, 2007 by Ross
WidgetBucks has just launched a new widget based advertising network that displays shopping ads on your blog. From a blogger’s perspective, what looks pretty good about the service is that you get paid whenever a reader clicks on the widget and visits the advertiser. Yes, that’s right, with WidgetBucks PPC, you get paid when readers click on the ads; they do not have to make a purchase for you to earn money. WidgetBucks claims that earnings are better than $2 CPM, with their own tests showing returns of $3 to $6 CPM.
WidgetBucks is easy to install, and is ready for most blogging platforms, such as WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Movable Type.
Customization
It is only early days at the moment, and customization is limited to some degree, Widgets come in 117 colors and 5 sizes:
- Skyscraper 160 x 600
- Rectangle 300 x 250
- Leaderboard 728 x 90
- Full banner 468 x 60
- Custom 660 x 330
You can see 2 examples below.

You can choose to target the ads to one of 13 different categories, most of which have sub-categories. Alternatively, you can select ‘MerchSense’ which crawls your page and finds relevant products to include in the widget based upon your content.
$25 Signup Bonus
As an added bonus, if you sign up for WidgetBucks now, they will deposit $25 into your account. WidgetBox have set a payout threshold of $50, so just by signing up you are already half way there. If the CPM is as good as their tests indicate, it may well be a good source of extra income for your blog.
Should You Use Google Adsense?

Probably one of the most asked questions by aspiring Blog Entrepreneurs and alike is:
“How can I make money with my blog?”
Most beginning Web entrepreneurs who have no tangible asset or service to sell are told to simply join Google Adsense and place ad blocks on their site, sit back and cross their fingers and hope they get lucky. Of course there can be much more to it then that, but essentially, that is often the kind of advice you will find.
Two articles I have read recently have made me think some more about the whole Google Adsense setup.
Chad Randall’s Advertisespace has an interesting post titled: Why Google is the World’s Biggest Pimp. I agree with most of what Chad has to say, and have similar views of my own (although perhaps not as extreme) about the whole adsense operation. I could elaborate further, but will leave that for another time.
The second article by John Chow, titled John Chow dot Com Income Report - August 2007 provides a roundup of John’s latest earnings from his site.
As John states, he started his blog about a year ago as a monetization case study to see if is was really possible to make money by blogging. Like many people, John started with Google AdSense as his sole means of monetizing his blog. In its first month the blog made $352.94. Now that is a pretty tidy sum for a startup blog.
His revenue has continued to rise since then, to the extent that in May 2007 he had a record $12,569.61 in total blog income. In July, this went backwards slightly but still earned a healthy $12,406.76.
In August, John’s total blog income was $17,828.61. Now that is nothing to be sneezed at for a blog income. The interesting thing is that of that income, Google Adsense accounted for only 3% of that income. While his blog income has increased massively, Google Adsense income has not increased anywhere near the same extent. John has now discontinued using Google Adsense on his blog.
Should you be using Google Adsense? If your blog is new, I would say yes in the early days. As you can see, I use it here on this blog. That is more to do with tracking stats then an expectation of earning any significant revenue from them. For this purpose, even on established blogs, using Google Adsense can be a good thing.
You can make money from Google Adsense, and many people reportedly make substantial amounts from their inclusion, but be aware that, there are other means of earning income from your blog then simply set and forget Adsense.
In a future article, I will take a closer look at the options to Google Adsense and other ways of monetizing your blog.
